An immortal poet of Gujarati literature, Ramesh Parekh (27 November 1940 – 17 May 2006) was a resident of Amreli. He made significant contributions to Ghazal, geet, and children's literature. He was an award-winning poet and gave a new sentiment to the Gujarati language.
He was born into the Kapol Vanik family in Amreli. His first story, "Pretni Duniya" (World of Ghosts), was published in school. He had a great interest in painting, but due to lack of fees to study at Sir J. J. School of Art, he bid farewell to that dream. Even after getting a government job in 1960, his love for words and music remained.
