Located in the village of Shanala near Morbi, Gujarat, the Shakti Mata Temple is a sacred site with 650 years of historical and spiritual significance. It stands as a symbol of faith, heritage, and communal harmony.

Shakti Mata Mandir Shanala

In 1156 CE, King Harpaldev of the Solanki dynasty married Shakti Mata at Patdi. Among the 2300 villages granted to him, Shanala was one. Saints Ashaji and Devji later established the temple here after witnessing divine light in the forest.

Historical and Religious Significance

The temple is a symbol of communal unity with a nearby dargah, where temple priests offer lamps and incense. Each year during Sharad Purnima, a grand havan and fair are held, drawing devotees from over 20 nearby villages.

The 1979 Morbi Disaster & Sacred Well

Following the catastrophic dam failure in 1979, villagers faced a severe water crisis. Water was supplied from a sacred well near the temple using diesel pumps. Even today, the well is revered and used by devotees.

It continues to symbolize hope and divine intervention in the region’s memory.
